  9. carrying bags, or satchels, at a bus depot. He
  10. began his pro career with the Chattanooga 
  11. Black Lookouts of the Negro Southern
  12. League in 1926. (Blacks were not allowed to
  13. play in the major or minor leagues at this
  14. time.) He pitched for several teams, but he is
  15. best known for the time he spent with the
  16. Kansas City Monarchs.
